By admin at Wed, 2005-11-02 12:54 An Aberdeen woman must repay a relative more than $1,300 after admitting she forged checks. Stephanie M. Picotte, 21, pleaded guilty in Brown County Circuit Court on Tuesday to forgery. Picotte was sentenced to 30 days in jail and given two years probation. She must also pay a $63 fine. Forgery is a felony punishable by as much as five years in state prison and a $5,000 fine. Judge Jon Flemmer granted Picotte a suspended imposition of sentence. That means if she successfully completes probation the incident won't go on her record. Picotte admitted she stole checks from a relative and used them at Aberdeen businesses. She was not authorized to use the account. She must make $1,337 in restitution. Indira P. Dickson, 21 and of Aberdeen, was sentenced to 45 days in county jail after she pleaded guilty to grand theft. The crime is a felony punishable by as much as 10 years in state prison and a $10,000 fine. In addition to the jail time, Dickson must make $800 in restitution, pay a $63 fine and spend 18 months on probation. She was also granted a suspended imposition of sentence. That means that if she completes probation without problems the incident will be left off her record. In court, Dickson admitted that in July she stole $800 in cash from the Rainforest Casino, the Aberdeen business at which she then worked. Aaron C. Marker, 26 and of Aberdeen, pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine. He was not sentenced. Possession of meth is a felony punishable by as much as 10 years in state prison and a $10,000 fine. Marker requested a presentence investigation. His next court hearing was not set. In exchange for his guilty plea, the state agreed it would cap its request for prison time at five years and a misdemeanor marijuana charge was dismissed. Lori Ehlers, a deputy state's attorney for Brown County, said that law enforcement contacted Marker in August because he had outstanding traffic tickets. At that time, officers discovered he had drug paraphernalia. A subsequent drug test revealed there was meth in his system. Kevin D. Bosch, 45 and of Sisseton, pleaded guilty to felony driving while intoxicated. Because it was his third DUI conviction in 10 years, the crime is a felony punishable by as much as two years in state prison and a $2,000 fine. Bosch was sentenced to 60 days in jail and fined $610.
