Jeffrey T. Leeper, 40, previously was convicted of driving during a 15-year suspension, a Class IV felony; driving under the influence-second offense, a Class W misdemeanor; and possession of marijuana-less than an ounce and speeding, both infractions.

“I think he has demonstrated himself to be a dangerous person with his driving and drinking," said Dodge County Attorney Paul Vaughan.

Leeper has six previous DUI convictions, but only two have been within the past 12 years.

“Mr. Leeper, you were driving to a gas station to get cigarettes?" said District Judge John Samson. “That's not a good decision when you're on suspension and you've been drinking."

He sentenced Leeper to 20 months to four years in prison for the felony charge along with a concurrent 90-day sentence for the DUI. Leeper also was fined $700 and his driver's license was suspended for one year.

* Phillip C. Bloomberg II, 34, of Elkhorn pleaded no contest to possession of a controlled substance-methamphetamine, a Class IV felony. In exchange for his plea, charges of theft by shoplifting, a Class II misdemeanor, and possession of drug paraphernalia, an infraction, were dismissed. A pre-sentence investigation was ordered and sentencing set for Dec. 5. A Hy-Vee food store employee attempted to contact Bloomberg Sept. 3 after he saw him attempt to exit the store with a large bulge in his pocket, but Bloomberg ran. When Fremont police found him, they located a bottle of vodka, a syringe and a small amount of methamphetamine.

* Jamey Crawford, 30, of Fremont pleaded guilty to attempted burglary, a Class IV felony. In exchange for his plea, the charge was amended from burglary, a Class III felony, and a charge of theft, a Class II misdemeanor was dismissed. A pre-sentence investigation was ordered and sentencing set for Dec. 5.

* Ronald Hawk, 41, of Dodge was sentenced to two concurrent sentences of 18 months to three years in prison and one consecutive sentence of 18 months to three years in prison. His driver's license also was suspended for 15 years.

He previously was convicted to driving during a 15-year suspension, DUI-fourth offense and flight to avoid arrest, all Class IV felonies.

“Mr. Hawk, when you're drinking, you're a very dangerous person to yourself and others," Samson said.

* A Nov. 21 pre-trial conference was set for Jakob D. Johnson, 26, of Fremont. He is charged with three counts of delivery of a controlled substance-marijuana, a Class III felony.

* Chad C. King, 35, of Fremont was sentenced to two years of intense supervised probation with four to six months at a work ethic camp to begin the sentence. Once released from the work ethic camp, he will have 90 days of electronic monitoring. He was remanded to the Dodge County Jail until a bed opened at the work ethic camp. King previously was convicted of possession of a controlled substance-methamphetamine, a Class IV felony.

* A motion for discovery was sustained and a Nov. 29 bench trial set for Mary L. Lottman, 41, of Fremont. She is charged with theft, a Class III felony.

* A Nov. 16 suppression hearing was set for Christina Mount, 35, of Fremont. She is charged with possession of a controlled substance-methamphetamine, a Class IV felony.

* Joseph S. Ridgebear, 23, of Fremont pleaded innocent to first-degree sexual assault, a Class II felony. Attorneys have until Nov. 11 to file pretrial motions and further proceeding is set for Nov. 14.

* Jesse J. Stewart, 45, of Fremont pleaded innocent to first-degree sexual assault, a Class II felony, and sexual assault of a child, a Class IIIA felony. A jury trial was requested and pretrial motions were set for Nov. 11, with further proceeding set for Nov. 14.

Stewart is accused of inappropriately touching and attempting sexual assault on at least one occasion between November 2003 and February 2005 with a 5-year-old girl.

Richard Register, Stewart's attorney, made motions to be told the specific date of the event, for access to audio and video interviews and to take three depositions. Samson told Register to submit his motions in writing.
