A 19-year-old Redding woman was arrested Monday on suspicion of driving under the influence of prescription drugs after she crashed head-on into an armored truck at the intersection of East and Sacramento streets, Redding police said. Priscilla Minihane slammed into the Loomis Armored truck about 11:40 a.m. as she attempted to make a right turn from Sacramento Street onto East Street, police said. Minihane was released at the hospital and arrested on suspicion of DUI, police said. Redding police are investigating the crash. A 34-year-old Redding driver accused of second-degree murder and other crimes in the death of a road worker is due Wednesday to have his preliminary hearing postponed because he has been hospitalized. Lawrence Javier Apodaca, who is facing life in prison if convicted of the charges against him, was due to have his preliminary hearing on Thursday. But attorneys said Monday that Apodaca, who was taken to Shasta Regional Medical Center's emergency room on Thursday, is not due to be released until late this week. Although the nature of Apodaca's hospitalization was not disclosed, he had a blood-alcohol level nearly seven times the legal limit when he was arrested Oct. 30 after his minivan slammed into a street sweeper, killing its 45-year-old operator, Ronald Joe Toney of Redding. The Shasta County district attorney's office dropped workers' compensation fraud charges Monday against a former California Highway Patrol dispatcher, her attorney said. Barbara Lee Fogarty, 48, of Palo Cedro originally was charged with 10 counts of insurance fraud and filing false workers' compensation claims. The dismissal was based in part on medical testimony that Fogarty's back injuries were job-related, said her attorney, Joe Gazzigli.
