Weatherly resident's blood-alcohol ratio was more than twice limit.

A Weatherly woman who was driving with a blood-alcohol ratio more than twice what state law allows when she sideswiped a vehicle driven by a Superior Court judge pleaded guilty to drunken driving Tuesday.

Donna M. Halechko, 39, of 127 Carbon St. had a blood-alcohol ratio of 0.17 percent about 11:30 a.m. March 26 when she crashed on Buck Mountain Road in Lausanne Township, police said.

State law says a person with a level of 0.08 percent is too drunk to drive.

Halechko hit a sport utility vehicle driven by Judge Peter Paul Olszewski, 80, of Wilkes-Barre.

Olszewski was not injured. Halechko was treated at Hazleton General Hospital.

An affidavit of probable cause filed by Trooper David M. Janson with the state police at Hazleton says police noticed she was intoxicated while talking to her at the hospital.

''She admitted to consuming alcoholic beverages,'' said Jean A. Engler, Carbon County assistant district attorney.

Police had Halechko's blood drawn at the hospital, and tests revealed her blood-alcohol level.

Halechko pleaded to two counts of drunken driving and related charges.

Carbon County President Roger N. Nanovic accepted the plea, but deferred sentencing. He warned Halechko one of the drunken driving charges carries a maximum sentence of five years and a mandatory minimum of nine months.
